Talib Kweli Announces “Prisoner of Conscious” Tour Brooklyn, NY - April 26th 2012 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE This Memorial Day, May 28th, Talib Kweli, will kick off his Prisoner of Conscious tour at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City. Slated for a Summer 2012 release, Kweli’s new album, Prisoner of Conscious (Blacksmith/EMI), features appearances from RZA, Busta Rhymes, Curren$y, Kendrick Lamar, Melanie Fiona and more. The video for the album’s lead single, the Oh No-produced “Distractions”, can be seen below. It’s been a busy year for the Brooklyn MC. As one-half of Idle Warship, his alternative soul duo with singer-songwriter Res, Kweli released the collaborative album Habits of the Heart last Fall. Kweli has toured with Idle Warship consistently through 2012, while simultaneously gearing up for the release of Prisoner of Conscious. Talib Kweli will also appear at Bonnaroo on Friday, June 8th along side Yasiin Bey, who together make up the revered hip-hop duo, Black Star.

Hip-Hop luminary, Talib Kweli, kicks off his Prisoner of Conscious tour at Le Poisson Rouge on Memorial Day, May 28th to promote his new album, of the same name. Slated for a Summer 2012 release via Blacksmith/EMI, Prisoner of Conscious features appearances from RZA, Busta Rhymes, Curren$y, Kendrick Lamar, and Melanie Fiona. Talib Kweli will be performing with his stellar live band, and will rock his classic joints like “Get By” and “The Blast”, as well as new songs from Prisoner of Conscious, like “Distractions” (video here). Joining Talib Kweli as support will be Seattle MC, J. Pinder, and Bajah + The Dry Eye Crew, a hip-hop collective from Sierra Leone.
